Pixar Courageously Breaks From The Princess Stereotype With 'Brave'
EMERYVILLE (CBS SF) - Emeryville-based Pixar Studios has a "Brave" princess as their leading lady and features the voices of Emma Thompson, Billy Connolly, Julie Walters, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson, Robbie Coltrane and of course it wouldn't be a Pixar film without John Ratzenberger.
"Brave" is set in the Scottish Highlands and centers around a princess/skilled archer, Merida (voiced by Kelly McDonald), who defies her mother's wish to get married, and through her actions, accidentally causes chaos in their kingdom. Through it all, Merida "confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts to discover the true meaning of courage." This is the first time a Pixar production has featured a female lead character.
