RICHMOND (CBS SF) — A 10-year-old boy was injured by gunfire intended for another person in Richmond Thursday afternoon, a police lieutenant said.
A teen riding his bicycle near the intersection of South 15th Street and Maine Avenue around 2:30 p.m. began shooting at the driver of a passing car, police Lt. Bisa French said.
Instead of striking the driver, the gunfire hit a 10-year-old boy walking in the neighborhood with his mother and other young children, French said.
The boy was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition but he is expected to survive.
No other injuries were reported in the shooting. The driver who was shot at did not stop or contact police, French said.
Police located the suspect’s bike a short time after the shooting but the suspect, described as an armed black male in his late teens wearing dark clothing, remains at large, French said.
