Argument Over Spilled Breakfast Syrup Leads To Richmond Shooting

RICHMOND (CBS SF) -- An argument between two brothers over spilled syrup on Sunday escalated into a physical fight before one of the brothers left the room, returned with a gun and fired at the other brother, Richmond police said.

The brothers got into an argument over spilled breakfast syrup in the kitchen about 2 p.m. at a home in the 600 block of South 20th Street, Richmond police Lt. Bisa French said.

The physical fight that ensued was broken up by a third brother.

It was then that the suspect, 52, left the room and returned with a gun, announcing he was going to kill the brother he had gotten into an argument with, French said.

He fired the gun but missed. The shooter struck his brother with the gun before fleeing.

The brother who was hit with the gun was treated at the scene.
