Elderly Woman Attacked In San Francisco's Golden Gate Park

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- An elderly woman was critically injured when she was pushed to the ground at Stow Lake in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park on Friday, police said Monday.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. Friday at the lake where the 82-year-old victim saw a juvenile bothering a goose, according to police.

When the woman scolded the child, a man in his 40s approached and pushed the woman, causing her to fall to the ground and hit her head, police said.

The man helped pick the woman up, and they each went their separate ways, but when the victim went home, she did not feel well and eventually went to the hospital to be treated for her head injury, which is considered life-threatening, police said.

The suspect had not been found as of Monday morning, according to police.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call the Police Department's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
