Police and fire crews at the scene of a crash after a police pursuit in Oakland.
OAKLAND — Oakland police were at the scene of a crash that occurred as a driver was fleeing from officers early Wednesday morning, a police officer said.
Police tried to pull over the vehicle at 7:17 a.m. but the driver refused to yield, and instead accelerated away, police said.
There was a brief pursuit that ended at 7:20 a.m. when the car crashed into a fire hydrant in the 4000 block of San Leandro Street, according to police.

Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene, but information on injuries was not immediately available.
No police officers were hurt.
