Petaluma Man Eats Mini-Mart Food, Goes Berserk, Gets Arrested

PETALUMA (CBS SF) – A man who went berserk inside a Petaluma gas station mini-mart after being told to pay for the items he had just eaten was arrested Monday evening, according to police.

The Press Democrat reported 27-year-old man Deniz Acikbus of Petaluma went into a gas station on Baywood Drive Monday night and began eating food items inside the store.

Sgt. Marty Frye told the Press Democrat that the clerk told Ackibus he would have to pay for the items, at which Ackibus then began throwing drink cans at the clerk.

When the clerk and other customers ran outside the store, Ackibus began destroying other property inside the store, according to the report.

Police were able to apprehend Ackibus as he left the store. Officers found a number of items from the store in his possession, Frye said.

Ackibus was booked into Sonoma County Jail and was due in court Wednesday on felony robbery and misdemeanor vandalism charges.
