Taxi Driver Pistol-Whipped, Robbed In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A taxi driver was robbed at gunpoint in San Francisco's Inner Sunset district Wednesday morning, police said.

The suspect pistol-whipped the male taxi driver at Fourth Avenue and Irving Street before fleeing the scene, according to police.

The driver was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Police briefly closed the intersection to traffic, including public transportation and have since reopened the roadway.

No arrests have been made and police are urging anyone with information to call the San Francisco police tip line at (415) 575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
