Date Set In $50M Lawsuit Against Dodgers Over Giants Fan Beating

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS/AP) -- San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow, who's suing former Dodgers owner Frank McCourt over a vicious beating at Dodger Stadium will have his day in court next year.

City News Service reports a Los Angeles judge on Friday set a Feb. 5 trial date for Bryan Stow's $50-million lawsuit.

The Santa Cruz man was attacked in the parking lot during last year's opening game. Court papers say he suffered severe brain damage that left him unable to walk, hold a conversation or control his bodily functions. His lawyers say he'll need lifelong care.

Stow sued McCourt and the Dodgers organization for battery and negligence, claiming security cutbacks were partly to blame. He's seeking damages and coverage of future medical costs.

Two men have pleaded not guilty to criminal charges.
