Narsai David: Winesong 2012—Charitable Auction Set In Botanical Gardens

Narsai David is the KCBS Food and Wine Editor. He has been a successful restaurateur, chef, TV host, and columnist in the Bay Area spanning four decades. You can hear him Saturdays at 10:53am, 12:53pm and 4:53pm, and at 2:53am Sunday on KCBS All News 740AM and 106.9FM.

FORT BRAGG (KCBS)— Winesong 2012 is only about five weeks away and is always one of my favorite events. Held on September 7th and 8th, the charity auction and tasting event will benefit the Mendocino Coast Hospital Foundation and has previously raised over $4.5 million in Winesong generated funds.

The event takes place in the incredible botanical gardens in between Mendocino and Fort Bragg and will offer some unusual auction items this year.

Celebrity Chef Brad Ogden will donate a chef's dinner auction lot where he will host 10 lucky diners, who will assist him in preparation, at a secret location.

Also on the auction lot will be a 1996 Chateau d'Yquem, Sauternes, double magnum. But first you should familiarize yourself with the tasting. After all, that's the most fun part.

As you wander through the gardens, you'll notice there are as many as 50 different vendors with food, wine and beer to offer as Jazz quartets and other musicians perform.
