1-Alarm Fire Causes Major Damage To Santa Rosa Duplex

SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) -- A one-alarm fire caused thousands of dollars in damage to a west Santa Rosa duplex early Monday morning, fire officials said.

Santa Rosa firefighters responded to a fire in the 2900 block of Apache Street at 3:15 a.m. As they were en route, they could "see it from blocks away," Battalion Chief Jack Piccinini said.

The fire began in a backyard shed and spread to a nearby tree. Debris from the tree fell onto the home, starting an attic fire, Piccinini said.

It took firefighters 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze. No one was injured.

The fire caused between $60,000 and $70,000 in damage, Piccinini said.
