Vacaville Teenager Killed In Honolulu Jet Ski Accident

HONOLULU (CBS SF) - A Vacaville girl died Monday after a jet ski accident in Honolulu.

The Department of the Medical Examiner in Honolulu identified the teen as 16-year-old Kristen Fonseca.

The collision with another jet ski happened Sunday and Fonseca died Monday at The Queens Medical Center in Honolulu, according to Robyn Boxie, an investigator with the medical examiner's department.

Fonseca was struck in the back of the head by a 20-year-old man who was riding another jet ski in the Keehi Boat Harbor on the southern coast of Oahu about five miles from Waikiki Beach, according to news reports.

Fonseca was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after the collision.

State Department of Land and Natural Resources spokeswoman Deborah Ward said it appears the 20-year-old rider rear-ended the teen. The man was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Both riders were on Aloha Jet Ski tours. The company couldn't immediately be reached for comment Tuesday.
