Man Arrested For Pointing Gun In Candlestick Parking Lot After 49ers Game

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A man was arrested after allegedly pointing a gun at another car while driving out of the San Francisco 49ers preseason football game against the Minnesota Vikings at Candlestick Park on Friday night, police said.

Two people approached a police officer about 9:10 p.m. Friday, explaining that they had seen a driver of a car point a gun at another driver, according to police.

The witnesses described the car and said it was stuck in traffic leaving the stadium onto Gilman Avenue, police said.

Officers eventually spotted the car at Gilman Avenue and Arelious Walker Drive and detained the driver. A search of the car revealed a .40-caliber semiautomatic gun inside along with some loose ammunition in the center console, according to police.

The suspect, whose name was not immediately available, was then arrested, police said.

Last August, two people were shot in the parking lot and another man beaten in one of the stadium bathrooms during a preseason game at Candlestick Park between the 49ers and Oakland Raiders.  The incidents led to the cancellation of the annual preseason matchup between the cross-bay rivals.
