Gold Medalist Sisters To Be Honored In Their Hometown of Danville

DANVILLE (CBS SF) - Danville community members will host a celebration in honor of the Olympic gold medallist Steffens sisters who return home from London this weekend.

Olympic water polo champions Jessica and Maggie Steffens will be honored at a ceremony in their hometown Saturday, after they helped lead the U.S. Women's Water Polo team to victory in London.

During the ceremony, Town of Danville officials will give both Jessica, 25 and Maggie, 19, a "key to the town" as well as a chance to share their experiences competing in London this summer with the community, according to a town spokesman.

The sisters will also be answering specific questions from local residents. Community members, and kids especially, are encouraged to submit their questions for the pair to olympicgold@danville.ca.gov.

The hour-long ceremony and celebration is scheduled for 5:00pm. Saturday, August 25 at Oak Hill Park at 3005 Stone Valley Road, to be followed by Danville's Music in the Park concert series.
