Body Found Below I-580 On-Ramp In Emeryville

EMERYVILLE (CBS SF) - A man was found dead in Emeryville Wednesday morning in what police are calling a suspicious death, a police spokesman said.

Emeryville police received a call from Oakland police at 5:33 a.m. about a man down on West MacArthur Boulevard, just south of Emery Street, Emeryville Officer Brian Head said.

The man, who was in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene, Head said.

The death closed the westbound Interstate Highway 580 on- and off-ramps at West MacArthur Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The ramps were reopened around 7 a.m., Head said.

Head said police are not sure how the man died, and were awaiting autopsy results.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Emeryville police at (510) 596-3700.
