Man Pleads Guilty In 2009 Richmond Gang Rape Case

RICHMOND (CBS / AP) -- One of six men charged in the 2009 gang rape of a teenage girl outside Richmond High School's homecoming dance has pleaded guilty.

The Contra Costa Times reports that 22-year-old Manuel Ortega pleaded guilty in exchange for a 32-year prison sentence.

Ortega was the first participant in the rape, police said, and witnesses described Ortega punching and kicking the girl will he sexually assaulted her and urged the others to join him.

The girl was beaten, robbed and raped over two hours while spectators watched. Ortega's DNA was recovered from her body.

Ortega pleaded guilty to rape in concert, rape by a foreign object in concert, forced oral copulation in concert resulting in great bodily injury and robbery.

Ortega is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 19.
