(KCBS) – KCBS Entertainment Editor Jan Wahl reviews the drama, "The Words" starring Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana Jeremy Irons, Ben Barnes, Dennis Quaid and Olivia Wilde.

KCBS Entertainment Reporter Jan Wahl:

THE WORDS (PG-13)

This multi-layered drama is worthwhile and surprising, as long as one doesn't read every detail in reviews. It centers on a writer trying to achieve success. He is pressured both internally and externally to get the Great American Novel written, but it eludes him.

Suddenly, ambition overcomes morality and he delves into the past to become a winner in the present.

The film is smart and interesting, with three stories that keep us guessing if we don't know all the answers.

This is the strongest performance by Bradley Cooper, and Jeremy Irons is, as always, charismatic and a scene stealer.

The movie asks the audience to pay attention and figure out what's going on. Not too long, engrossing, and beautifully shot. 3 hats.
