SAN JOSE (CBS SF) — A San Jose woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver as she was riding her bicycle in Arizona over the weekend, police said Tuesday.

Jordan A. Murphy-Mahoney, a 21-year-old student at Northern Arizona University, was riding her bike in the area of South Walapai Drive and Mohawk Road in Flagstaff, Ariz., when a truck hit her from behind, Flagstaff police said.

Murphy-Mahoney died at the scene. Her bicycle was mangled in the collision, police said.

The driver of the truck, identified as Kelsey Lou Cody, 22, of Flagstaff, allegedly left the scene but was later arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and manslaughter, Flagstaff police said.

Police said they found Cody after witnesses told them that the truck involved in the collision had turned down a nearby street and was possibly parked in the area.

Cody initially claimed she was not the driver, but investigators believe she was behind the wheel of the truck, Flagstaff police said.

Police said they believe alcohol was a factor in the collision.
