Sebastopol Teen Dies In Peru After Overdosing On Hallucinogen

SEBASTOPOL (CBS/AP) -- The mother of a Sebastopol teen is grieving after her son's body was found in Peru, where police say a shaman confessed to burying the 18-year-old after he ate an hallucinogenic plant.

Kyle Nolan went on a spiritual retreat in the Madre de Dios jungle region, about 530 miles east of Lima on Aug. 17. When he didn't return home to Sebastopol on Aug. 27, The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports (http://bit.ly/Pgjrik) his mother, Ingeborg Oswald, filed a missing person's report and went to Peru searching for him.

Authorities said Wednesday that shaman Jose Manuel Pineda, who calls himself "Maestro Mancoluto," told them that Nolan died after exceeding the dosage of a plant called Ayahuasca on Aug. 22.

Two other men have been arrested for allegedly helping Pineda bury Nolan's body.
