CONCORD (CBS SF) — A shooting in a Concord neighborhood Monday morning is being investigated as an officer-involved shooting, according to police.

Police responded to reports of a suicidal man in the 2200 block of Blackfield Drive at 8:09 a.m. Officers found the man standing in the driveway of a residence there and “a shooting occurred,” according to police.

While police have not disclosed whether the man was shot or why officers may have fired their guns, Concord police and the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the shooting as an officer-involved shooting.

KCBS’ Dave Padilla Reports:

There was a shelter-in-place order after the shots were fired and a man was taken away in an ambulance, according to neighbors.

Neighbors heard gunshots around 8:15 a.m., said Lisa Feilbach, who lives on Lexington Road near Blackfield Drive. A neighbor closer to the scene told Feilbach that Concord police brought a SWAT team in an armored car, which drove up onto the lawn of the home.

Police arrested a man who emerged from the home and took him away in an ambulance, according to Feilbach.

Feilbach, a stay-at-home mom, was at home with her 4-year-old when she received a message from Concord police to stay indoors and to keep doors and windows shut.

“It’s a little bit scary, hearing that phone call,” she said, adding that she obeyed the order until she saw other neighbors outside, talking with police.

Police sent out automated phone calls around 10 a.m. saying that the shelter-in-place order had been lifted.
