Man Critically Hurt In Shooting Near Hercules

RODEO (CBS SF) - A man in his mid 20s was shot multiple times in unincorporated Contra Costa County and then airlifted to a hospital in critical condition Thursday night, according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies received reports of shots fired at 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Mariposa Street and Dempsey Way in Rodeo, just north of Hercules.

Upon arrival, deputies found the victim suffering gunshot wounds to his abdomen and possibly his neck. The victim was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek via helicopter in critical condition, sheriff's deputies said.

Two suspects described as black adult males were seen running away from the scene of the shooting prior to the arrival of sheriff's deputies.
