1 Killed In Downtown San Jose Fight
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) — Police were investigating a homicide that occurred Wednesday night in downtown San Jose.
The death marks the city’s 35th homicide this year, police said.
Police responded to a report of a fight on S. Second Street between E. San Fernando Street and E. Santa Clara Street, two blocks from San Jose State University at 8:27 p.m.
Officers found a male victim unconscious and not breathing. CPR was conducted and the man was transported to a local hospital, police said.

The man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital at 9:55 p.m., police said.
The precise cause of death had not been released.
Police said preliminary investigation suggests the victim was involved in a fight with another suspect, who fled the scene before police arrived.
No suspects have been identified and the motive for the crime remained under investigation, police said.
The victim’s name was being withheld pending notification of his family, police said.
