Park Police Shoot At Fleeing Suspect In SF Presidio

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- U.S. Park Police were involved in a shooting in The Presidio in San Francisco Saturday evening after a vehicle allegedly attempted to run over an officer, according to the National Park Service.

The shooting occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Lincoln Boulevard in the Presidio, after an officer spotted a suspect attempting to break into a vehicle, according to National Park Service spokeswoman Alexandra Picavet.

When the officer attempted to stop the suspect, the man jumped into a waiting car and allegedly drove toward the officer as if trying to run him over.

The officer fired his weapon at the car as it drove toward him, Picavet said.

The vehicle left the scene, and Park Police are working with San Francisco police to locate it. The vehicle is described as a tan Buick, and the suspects as two black males.
