Chopper 5 Catches ATV Joyride Through Streets Of Oakland

OAKLAND (CBS 5) – A man riding an all-terrain vehicle was tearing through the streets of East Oakland Wednesday afternoon, but police were not aware of the reckless driving.

Chopper 5 was above Oakland when the rider was spotted around 5 p.m. Wednesday near the o.Co Coliseum and International Boulevard.

The man, wearing a white t-shirt and a helmet, was seen weaving in and out of traffic and jumping on sidewalks. He also ran through several stop signs and stoplights. Chopper 5 followed the ATV for several minutes, before losing sight of the rider under the trees.

CBS 5 contacted the Oakland Police Department, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department, and the California Highway Patrol. All three agencies said they were unaware of the rider.
