Tech Report: eBay Redesign Looks A Lot Like Pinterest

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— eBay has unveiled a redesigned site in hopes of making browsing online more like window-shopping.

It actually looks a lot more like Pinterest now. It's graphic intensive. There are pictures everywhere that are customized to the user. When I logged on there were a bunch of pretty pictures of tech-products. Go figure.

For others it could be handbags, shoes or baseball paraphernalia, whatever the case may be. If eBay can pin down what you're into they're going to pitch you with a lot of pretty images. You can click on them or mouse over them and find out the price or what the auction is all about. The bottom line is this is all about marketing in a big way.

I have a sense that this is going to attract people's attention as more and more we get into a graphical web. The web has been graphical for a long time, but even more so now. Everywhere you go you see info graphics, so I think eBay is on the right track here.
