Woman Choked, Robbed On San Francisco City College Campus

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A woman was choked and had her cellphone stolen as she walked across a footbridge to City College of San Francisco on Wednesday morning, police said Thursday.

The robbery occurred around 7 a.m. on the footbridge that crosses over Ocean Avenue on the south end of campus, police said.

A man approached the 19-year-old victim from behind, then put his arms around her neck and started to choke her, according to police.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, then pushed the woman to the ground, took her phone and fled. He had not been found as of this morning, police said.

The victim suffered minor scrapes but declined transport to a hospital.

Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to call the Police Department's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
