HERCULES (CBS SF) — Police arrested a Hercules middle school teacher after more than a pound of marijuana was found in his car in the school parking lot on Wednesday morning, according to police.

Police arrested 66-year-old Allen Goodman, of Walnut Creek, on charges including possession of marijuana for sale on school property, police said.

At approximately 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, an employee at Hercules Middle/High School, located at 1900 Refugio Valley Road, called police to report a car left unattended with the engine running in the Hercules Middle School staff parking lot.

Police arrived and found an unlocked gray Honda with temporary license plates. An officer had dispatchers run the vehicle identification number in an attempt to identify the owner, according to police.

The officer also checked the glove compartment for identifying information, and found a sandwich bag containing a green leafy material—later determined to be marijuana—as well as another sandwich bag containing four rolls of cash, according to police.

A more thorough search of the vehicle uncovered additional marijuana in the trunk, police said.

Goodman was arrested for possession of marijuana for sale, possession of more than an ounce of marijuana, and possession of marijuana by an adult on school grounds, police said. School was in session at the time of the discovery.

Goodman was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility and was being held on $22,500 bail, police said.

Police said the cash found in the glove compartment totaled $4,200.

A search of Goodman’s home revealed additional evidence of marijuana cultivation and sales and a large amount of cash, according to police.
