1 Dead In Shooting Near Oakland Lake Merritt

OAKLAND (CBS SF) - One victim was fatally shot in Oakland's Adams Point neighborhood near Lake Merritt this morning, according to police.

Oakland police received reports of gunshots at 5:42 a.m. in the 300 block of Vernon Street.

Upon arrival, officers found one victim and no suspects, according to police.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene of the shooting, police said.

Police are gathering evidence at the scene of the shooting Friday morning.

No suspects were in custody, police said.
