2 Mild Quakes Rattle LA Basin

LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) -- Two small earthquakes rattled southern California but there were no reports of damage or injury.

The US Geological Survey says a 3.9 magnitude quake struck at 8:24 a.m. Sunday and was centered about 5 miles east-southeast of Santa Clarita.

Shaking was felt across the Santa Clarita Valley, 25 miles to the south in downtown Los Angeles, in West Hollywood and along LA County beaches.

A sheriff's dispatcher in Santa Clarita said there were no calls reporting damage or injury.

Earlier Sunday a 3.9 magnitude quake was reported in Riverside County. The USGS says it struck at 12:47 a.m. about six miles southeast of Valle Vista.
