Pleasant Hill Nail Salon Gutted By Apparent Arson Fire

PLEASANT HILL (CBS SF) -  A fire that badly damaged a Pleasant Hill nail salon late Sunday night started when some sort of object was thrown through one of the windows of the business, a fire official said.

Contra Costa County firefighters were dispatched shortly after 11:30 p.m. Sunday to a strip mall at 500 Contra Costa Blvd., where a fire was burning inside the Magic Touch Salon, fire Capt. Robert Marshall said.

The one-alarm fire, which was under control in 30 minutes, caused about $100,000 in damage to the salon, Marshall said.

No other businesses were affected.

Fire investigators determined that some sort of device had been thrown through the window, Marshall said

They also found an unexploded Molotov cocktail on the ground outside the business.

Marshall said the object thrown through the window was not a Molotov cocktail.

No suspects have been identified, and the fire remained under investigation.
