4 People Killed In Holiday Weekend Gun Violence In Oakland

OAKLAND (CBS/AP) -- A weekend of violence in Oakland has pushed the number of homicides in the city for 2012 past last year's number.

Police said two women were shot to death on an East Oakland street around 6 a.m. Sunday.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 3700 block of Brookdale Avenue near Minna Avenue just before 6 a.m., according to Oakland police.

Arriving police found two victims, both female, police said.

The women were taken to a hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The names of the two women, or any other details of the double homicide, have not been released.

On Saturday, police confirmed two people were killed in separate shootings. An 18-year-old woman was shot to death around 7 a.m. and a 19-year-old man died in a hospital after being shot several times around 3 p.m. Their names have not been released.

No arrests have been made in any of the weekend shootings.

There have been 115 homicides in the Oakland so far this year, five more than all of last year.
