Home Invasion Suspects Arrested After Oakland School Lockdown

OAKLAND (KCBS)— A middle school in East Oakland was locked down for about an hour on Monday afternoon while police searched for two suspects involved in a home invasion robbery.

Bret Harte Middle School was locked down around 12 p.m. after police learned there was home invasion robbery just across the street, according to Oakland Unified School District spokesman Troy Flint.

Police were eventually able to arrest two suspects and the lockdown was lifted around 1 p.m. While the school, located at 3700 Coolidge Ave.,  stayed open, the front entrance remained closed because of the crime scene.

Flint said that students would have to leave through the rear when school lets out at 3 p.m.
