Campbell Man Accused Of Crossing Border With Liquid Meth

DOUGLAS, Ariz. (CBS / AP) -- Federal authorities said a Santa Clara County man has been arrested in southern Arizona after 66 pounds of liquid methamphetamine allegedly was found in his car's gasoline tank.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said 41-year-old Vasa Major applied for entry at the Arizona border in Douglas.

They said the Campbell resident was directed to a secondary inspection area where officers noticed his gas tank appeared to have been modified.

A CBP narcotics detection dog confirmed the presence of drugs. After officers removed the fuel tank, they reported finding nine containers of liquid meth.

They say the nearly 8 ½ gallons of liquid meth has a street value of more than $1 million.

Major was turned over to federal immigration officials. CBP officials didn't immediately know Tuesday if Major had a lawyer.
