Fairfield Man Arrested In Deadly Hit-And-Run

FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) - The California Highway Patrol has arrested a Fairfield man for the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian on Peabody Road in unincorporated Solano County on Wednesday morning.

Alex Perez Jr., 23, is suspected of striking Moses L. Sala, 28, of Fairfield, with his 2012 Chevrolet Silverado pickup as he drove south on Peabody Road north of Chuck Hammond Drive outside of Fairfield, CHP Officer Chris Parker said.

Sala was walking south on the road, Parker said.

Fairfield police informed the CHP at 8:52 a.m. that they were at the scene of a fatal collision involving a pedestrian, Parker said.

Sala's body was found just off the western edge of Peabody Road, Parker said.

Investigators believe the collision happened several hours before the body was discovered, Parker said. Debris collected at the scene led the CHP to a Vacaville address where the Chevrolet pickup was found and Perez was interviewed.

Perez was then arrested and booked into Solano County Jail for felony hit-and-run, Parker said.
