11 Arrested, 3,000 Pounds Of Marijuana Seized From Smuggler Boat Off California Coast

SANTA BARBARA (CBS/AP) — Eleven people aboard a marijuana-laden panga smuggler boat have been arrested on a remote Santa Barbara County beach.

A Coast Guard aircraft crew spotted the 30-foot boat off San Nicholas Island and heading for shore early Wednesday.

The twin-engine boat was carrying 11 people, including illegal immigrants from Mexico, tanks with fuel and about 3,000 pounds of marijuana.

The boat landed between Gaviota State Park and the Hollister Ranch area.
