5 Hurt When Car Hits 'Our Lady Of Guadalupe' Procession In Central Valley

GOSHEN, Calif. (CBS/AP) -- A car struck five people participating in an Our Lady of Guadalupe procession in California's San Joaquin Valley.

Three victims are hospitalized with serious injuries.

The walkers were taking part in Wednesday's pre-dawn procession to St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Goshen, a Tulare County community near Visalia.

The California Highway Patrol says 21-year-old Shawn Hill of Visalia was behind the Pontiac Grand Am that hit the pedestrians, who were in a group of about 20 people walking in the street.

A toddler in a stroller was one of the victims.

The accident was in a dark, unincorporated residential area that lacks sidewalks. The dirt shoulders were muddy from recent wet weather.
