Mild 3.0 Quake Rattles Sonoma County

SONOMA (CBS SF) -- A 3.0 earthquake was recorded just after 4 p.m. Sunday near The Geysers in Sonoma County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 1.3 miles, 2 miles east southeast of The Geysers.

The Geysers is the world's largest geothermal field, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. The region experiences constant seismic events between 0.5 and 3.0 on the Richter scale.
