Body Found Inside Burning Campbell Storage Unit

CAMPBELL (KCBS) — Campbell police were investigating a fire that started early Wednesday morning after finding a body inside a burning storage unit.

The police and fire department responded at 1:15 a.m. to a storage unit fire at an apartment building on Kuehnis Drive — behind the Whole Foods Market on Hamilton and Bascom Avenues.

“The fire department extinguished the fire and upon entering the unit, a deceased body was located,” Sergeant Gary Berg said.

KCBS’ Mike Colgan Reports:

The unit, he said, was not being used as a living quarters.

Although police wouldn’t release any information about the deceased person, one woman who was leaving the scene and didn’t want to be interviewed told KCBS that it was her brother-in-law.

Police were not treating the death a homicide pending further investigation.
