West Oakland Shooting Victim Knew Suspect

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A man was injured in a shooting by a known suspect in West Oakland Thursday night, according to police.

The victim was hit by gunfire at about 7:40 p.m. in the 2300 block of E. 15th Street, adjacent to Oakland Central Station, which has remained closed since the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989.

Seeking medical assistance, the victim transported himself from the scene of the shooting to a local hospital, police said.

The victim is in stable condition and is working with police to locate the male adult suspect, who fled the scene and is known to the victim.
