Chain-Swinging Man Subdued By SWAT Team After 5-Hour Modesto Standoff

MODESTO (CBS/AP) -- A chain-swinging man apparently under the influence of drugs has been subdued by a SWAT team after a nearly five-hour standoff in a gas station convenience store.

Modesto police arrived at the Shell station Sunday evening after someone reported a man armed with a chain was threatening people inside the minimart.

officers managed to get employees and customers out of the store before the man trashed the store by knocking down shelves and breaking bottles.

A SWAT team moved in and arrested the man just before 11 p.m. The man's name hasn't been released.
