Oakland's First Homicide Victim Of 2013 Identified As 17-Year-Old

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A boy who was fatally shot in East Oakland on Monday afternoon was identified by police Tuesday as 17-year-old Tyronta Mickens.

Mickens, who is Oakland's first homicide victim of 2013, was shot around 12:45 p.m. Monday while sitting in a car near the corner of 73rd Avenue and Hamilton Street, according to police.

Police said two other people who were in the car with Mickens were uninjured.

Oakland police didn't provide any other information about the case Tuesday, such as where Mickens is from or any information about the suspects or the motive in the shooting.
