SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) — Three people were arrested Friday after a high speed chase ended with one suspect forcing a woman to hide him in her home, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday.

The chase began around 1:30 p .m. Friday when a gang enforcement unit patrolling in the southwest area of Santa Rosa spotted a speeding maroon Cadillac with three occupants, Lt. Tim Duke said.

When the officers attempted to stop the Cadillac, however, it sped away at speeds of 80 mph in a posted 40 mph zone. The unit terminated the pursuit due to public safety concerns.

Another deputy in the area spotted the Cadillac parked at the dead end of Emerald Court, off of McMinn Avenue near Sebastopol Road, Duke said. The car was empty and the passenger door had been left open.

Two suspects, later identified as Carlos Alcazar, an 18-year-old Rohnert Park resident, and Gabriela Hall, an 18-year-old Santa Rosa resident, were found coming out of a nearby backyard and detained.

At the same time, police received an anonymous call reporting that the third suspect was hiding in a home on nearby Sunset Avenue.

Deputies found a female resident there hysterical and crying and unable to speak. She let them inside and they found the third suspect, later identified as Eric Guardado-Viruete, a 20-year-old Santa Rosa resident and the alleged driver of the vehicle.

Guardado-Viruete was hiding under blankets in a bedroom. The woman told deputies that he had forced entry into the home and held her against her will, Duke said.

Alcazar and Hall were arrested on suspicion of delaying and resisting and officer, a misdemeanor. Guardado-Viruete was arrested on suspicion of vehicular evading, burglary, false imprisonment and driving on a suspended license, Duke said.
