SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – A San Francisco police bomb squad was called out to investigate a piece of military ordinance discovered Thursday near AT&T Park.
What appeared to be an old military explosive was found around 8:45 a.m. at China Basin Park on the 100 block of Terry Francois Street near 3rd Street, prompting the closure of streets in the area for more than three hours.
Around noon, streets around the Lefty O’Doul Bridge on the south side of the ballpark were reopened. The device was rendered safe without incident.
There were no reports of injuries.
The incident has disrupted San Francisco Municipal Railway service on the K-Ingleside/T-Third Street light-rail line, Muni spokesman Paul Rose said.
