SUNNYVALE (KCBS) - A woman was found dead inside a Sunnyvale mobile home destroyed by a fire Wednesday night, authorities said.

Firefighters were called to the Plaza Del Rey mobile home park on Vienna Drive, west of the Lawrence Expressway and south of Tasman Drive, at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, said Capt. Dave Verbrugge, spokesman for the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.

With flames coming from the rear of the two-bedroom mobile home, firefighters were able to rescue a man who lived there. The body of his female roommate was later discovered in the charred remains of the structure after the fire was extinguished, Verbrugge said.

Authorities have not released the name of either victim.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Residents said there have been a couple of tragic fires at the trailer park in recent years, including a boy who was killed when a meth lab caught fire and an elderly woman who died when her cigarette ignited an oxygen tank.
