Sebastopol Woman Found Covered In Blood Suspected Of Murdering Her Mother

SEBASTOPOL (CBS SF) -- A 24-year-old woman who showed up at her neighbor's house with a knife and blood on her hands is suspected of murdering her mother who was found dead in her home, a Sonoma County sheriff's lieutenant said.

Julia Franzen ran up to a next-door neighbor in the 7900 block of Tocchini Street north of Sebastopol around 8 a.m. and stated she had just killed someone, Lt. Steve Brown said.

Franzen then ran back to her house before sheriff's deputies arrived, Brown said.

Deputies tried to contact Franzen in her home and she exited a short time later. Franzen was unarmed but she had blood on her hands and clothing, Brown said.

Deputies found 59-year old Nancy Franzen deceased on the floor of a bedroom in Franzen's home. She had obvious signs of injuries from a sharp object but the exact cause of her deathwas under investigation, according to Brown.
