4 Cited For Prostitution Just A Block From SJPD Facility

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - Four women were cited on suspicion of prostitution Tuesday a block from the San Jose Police Department's property and evidence facility, police said.

The four women, one who claimed to have just arrived in San Jose from Nebraska and the others from Fresno and Martinez, were among 12 females loitering in the area of Monterey Road and Cottage Grove Avenue about 5 p.m., police said.

As the dozen women stood by, officers in the Police Department's prostitution enforcement operation counted the drivers of more than 50 vehicles attempting to get the women's attention, police said.

The four females cited for soliciting prostitution were released at the scene, police said.

The site of the operation was about a block west of the department's Property and Evidence Control Unit at 1588-B Monterey Road, where stolen property is booked for safekeeping and held for presentation in court, according to the department's website.
