NEWARK (CBS SF) – Police have identified two suspects in a Fremont bank robbery who were arrested after holing up in a Newark motel room on Monday afternoon.
San Francisco residents Jeremiah Martin, 37, and Michael Luckert, 43, were arrested on suspicion of robbery and receiving known stolen property. Martin was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance, and Luckert was nabbed for a parole violation, police said.
The bank robbery occurred at about 1:40 p.m. Monday, when two men entered the Bank of the West at 39533 Paseo Padre Parkway in Fremont, police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques said.
Both had their faces partially covered with bandanas, and they simulated weapons underneath their clothing and demanded money, police said.
The pair fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, heading west on Stevenson Boulevard in a maroon pickup truck, Bosques said.

Around 2:05 p.m., Newark police reported to Fremont investigators that the suspect vehicle had stopped in Newark and two men were seen running from the truck toward a motel, Bosques said.
Fremont police responded and determined that the two men were in a room at the E-Z 8 Motel at 5555 Cedar Court in Newark, Bosques said.

Around 3:30 p.m., one of the suspects exited the room, surrendered and was taken into custody, Bosques said.
The second suspect remained barricaded in the room for several hours, and Newark and Union City police SWAT teams and hostage negotiators responded, according to Newark police.
After about five hours, negotiators talked the second suspect into surrendering peacefully.
