SAN CARLOS (CBS SF) — A San Francisco man was robbed and carjacked in San Carlos this week after he allegedly arranged to sell two pounds of marijuana to a person he had never met before, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
Jia Hang Li, 33, contacted the sheriff’s office bureau in San Carlos on Wednesday around 8:40 p.m. to report that he had just been robbed in the parking lot of a McDonald’s restaurant, sheriff’s Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt said.
Li told deputies that he had driven down from San Francisco after arranging by phone to sell about 2 pounds of marijuana to a man he never met in person before, Rosenblatt said.
When he arrived, the suspect brandished a handgun and demanded Li’s cellphone and keys before driving away in Li’s car.
The unoccupied vehicle was found a few blocks away, with a zip lock bag containing about 179 grams of marijuana, a digital scale and a box of plastic zip lock bags, Rosenblatt said.
Li has been arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale and transportation of marijuana for sale. The unknown suspect remained at large and was described as a tall, dark skinned male in his 20s, sheriff’s officials said.
