HAYWARD (CBS SF) — Emergency responders were headed to the scene of a hit-and-run crash in Hayward that reportedly left a child injured, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Witnesses called the CHP around 12:25 p.m. to report that a driver at the intersection of Vallejo Street and Sunset Boulevard crashed into an occupied parked car and fled the scene without stopping, according to the CHP.
The driver of the parked car reportedly exited the vehicle with an injured child and left the area on foot toward Sunset Boulevard.
It appears that the child was not in a car seat at the time of the crash, the CHP is reporting.
The extent of the child’s injuries were not immediately known and no further details were available.
