Hospitality Industry Dominates Santa Rosa Jobs Fair, Hundreds Turn Out

SANTA ROSA (KCBS)— Four hundred people turned out for a hospitality-industry jobs fair in Santa Rosa on Wednesday as an improving economy has encouraged those looking for work.

The North Bay job fair featured hotels, restaurants, wineries and even a Ronhert Park casino that is hiring 2,500 people alone.

While some attendants were already employed and looking for second jobs, others thought more fairs like this were necessary because it's contained under one roof as opposed to going door-to-door to look for a job.

Sonoma County Job Link Manager Steven Czegus said the hospitality industry in the area has always been a big jobs creator, but with an improving economy, businesses are expanding.

"The number of hiring events that we're having has more than doubled. That obviously tells us that there are a lot of employers out there that are looking for employees," he said.

More Santa Rosa job fairs are planned this spring.
