Person Struck, Killed By BART Train At Oakland 12th St. Station

OAKLAND (CBS SF) - A person was struck and killed by a train at the 12th Street/Oakland City Center BART station Wednesday morning, a BART spokeswoman said.

A Richmond-bound train struck the person on the tracks along Platform 3 about 9:10 a.m., spokeswoman Alicia Trost said.

She did not have details on how the person got on the tracks or whether the victim was a man or woman.

Trains bound for Richmond and Pittsburg/Bay Point were passing through the station without stopping. Riders are advised to use the 19th Street station instead.

However, trains headed to San Francisco and Fremont were still making stops at the 12th Street station, Trost said.
